The Apocalypse didn't come with a BANG. Silently, the amnesia wind swept away all of mankind's knowledge. Thousands of years of human civilization vanished overnight as people forgot how to use the tools of modern civilization - who they were - how to speak - everything. Technology decayed as mankind was instantly reduced to level of cavemen.
Now, two years later, a young man explores a nation reduced to barbarism - America. Miraculously re-educated after the cataclysm, he is accompanied by a young woman- somehow spared the obliterating effects of the amnesia wind. Pursued by a relentless killing machine, they search for those responsible for stealing their memories.
Review:
Overall, a very good movie, only one major gripe, but more on that later.  A real sci-fi movie that is not standard sci-fi.  This anime has more of a "coming of age" fell even though it really isn't.  Truth be told Sophia kinda reminded me for Maetel from Galaxy Express. I really can't explain why I liked it other than that I did.  The animation an music in this movie are superb. This movie has a soul which is very refreshing, like a breeze (named zephyr).
However, keeping this movie from complete greatness is a semi- sex scene close to the end.  You see taking their clothes off and on top of each other, you don't really see anything other than top half nudity.  But, just the scene completely out of place and really adds nothing to the story and takes away a lot.  If it wasn't for that one scene I would have liked this move a lot better, but that scene was one very bad apple that spoiled this barrel.  What was the the director thinking?  Maybe he wasn't, because everytime I *explodes*
Rent? YES.  Buy? Maybe (if there was a version w/o the sex scene then, YES)
