Overview:(VHS Back)
A century of bloodshed between warring star systems has plunged nearly 200 worlds into the flames of war. Now, an uneasy truce has settled across the Astragius Galaxy.
Chirico Cuvie, a special forces powered-armor pilot is suddenly transferred into a unit engaged in a secret and, unbeknownst to him, highly illegal mission to steal military secrets -- from their own military! Unsure of his loyalties, Chirico is left behind -- to die in space -- by a conspiracy which may extend to the highest level of command!
But he does not die. Now a renegade, hunted by both the conspirators and military intelligence, Chirico is driven by a haunting image of a mysterious and beautiful woman -- the objective of the traitorous mission, and his sole clue to unraveling the treacherous scheme. But the conspirators will do anything to preserve their mysterious agenda, and will stop at nothing to keep them apart.
Review:
Picture Gundam, without the flashy mobile suits or bold idealism and replace it with realistic factory built ATs and a down and dirty story.   For every step Gundam took away from super robots this takes at least two and a half steps.
In the first part we see we get Chirico back home on his home planet in Uoodo City on the run from the military and we are shown the corruption of the officials and new people he meets and works with to escape and find the mysterious woman.  I'd have to say this is the most realistic mecha show ever....dare I say even more realistic than Gasaraki....yes, I dare.
The animation really hasn't held up too well,  especially if you consider Macross was made a year before and looks better.  However, for it's age it's not bad.  Overall,  A great gritty series I want to see more of.
